All of a sudden our days are now measured by our son - 2 months ago he fit into one arm from head to toe. But recently we awakened to a cry from his room and found that one of his tiny feet had found its way out of his bassinet - suffice to say, he is outgrowing many things including those newborn onsies. But not to be sad for long - as he is "cooing" and smiling every day. His smile continues to manage to make us smile no matter what time of day or night. Even his cry has changed and matured. Amazing.
Our baby boy celebrated his 2 month birthday yesterday, September 10. To celebrate this 2-month milestone, babies must receive their first round of immunizations. Whoever made up that rule is cold-hearted and has never had children!!!
The thought of 4 shots was too much to bear so for added moral support, Grandma (Rincon) also attended. Baby Christian did wonderful and was a little soldier (he did much better than his mama)! I (Andrea) was dreading this day since I called to make the appointment over a month ago - surely new first-time mothers will understand. Daddy did his best and played it cool, afterwards, he admitted his heart skipped a beat as he watched the first needle go into Christian's chubby baby thigh. It is not so much that he had to undergo pain that made it difficult to watch - but everything in you as a parent just wants your baby to know that it wasn't YOU making him/her cry.
The "before" picture - happy baby, smiling parents (not for long)!
Trying to think of a way to take his place on the table
The preliminaries - getting measured (23 in) ...
... and weighed (11.7 pounds).
Checking vitals - Christian always gets a good report :)
Dr. Coco
Daddy giving authorization to the medical staff to hurt our baby!!
Here it comes...
OUCH!!
3 needles later...
Mama gets to soothe him - (you can't see it here, but tears were shed)
Yes, this is our son on a display shelf at Babies R Us :)
Since we could not treat our traumatized son to a nice ice cream or toy for being so strong, we took him to Babies R Us to find a swing... we had to make sure he liked it so he was on "display" for a few moments - we think he should go into their catalog :)

Of course a swing was not enough for Grandma. She bought him clothes, blankets, shoes, diapers, and much more...
